Nice. Reminds me of what Paul wrote about this life of striving. Of course, he's speaking about spiritual striving, not temporal goals or accomplishments, but it comes down to the same attitude.
He put it like this...
I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it [Christian perfection]. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.
II think the momentum that drives both our literal and figurative striving might be one and the same — but you're absolutely right. We have to keep moving forward and not get lost in the weeds.
